Champs League Draw Thoughts:

Bayern Munich v Man United – A Tasty Draw indeed. Apart from the grudge that the Germans will be looking to settle, this will bring together 2 teams with strong reliance on wingers. Bayern have Ribery and Robben, United have the resurgent Nani, the ever improving Valencia and both teams have strong full backs. Man United will be relieved that the second leg is at home.

Man United will also be doubly relieved that their half of the draw has Lyon and Bordeaux, leaving the big guns Inter, Barca and Arsenal to fight it out at the other end.

Arsenal v Barcelona – what a tasty treat! Much better for these 2 teams to meet before the finals. Too much riding on a single game, in a neutral venue – usually means a cagey affair. Now, both teams can play hell for leather. Both teams have an offensive DNA, superb ball players and play “good football” and both teams have breachable defences. Neither team knows how to play to “spoil” the game in the away leg. Expect goals.

Inter v CSKA – can’t really see a result for CSKA but will be attritive no doubt.

Lyon v Bordeaux – tough luck for the French teams to come up against each other. Bordeaux sit atop the league table and so there’s strong motivation for Lyon to prove a point, especially after their giant killing escapades at the last round.
